![]() ![]() The cases hinge is practically broken and I cleaned the case up a bit as it was in terrible condition when I got it. ![]() The case measures approximately 3 ½ inches wide by 1 5/8 inches deep by 7/8 of an inch thick. The top reads, in gold Gothic style script: “Frontflugspange Für Aufklärer Silber”. The case is constructed out of wood and pressed cardboard covered in a blue simulated grained leather covering. The clasp measures 3 inches wide by 1 inch tall. WWII Luftwaffe Fighter Ace Bubi Erich Hartmann / German front flight clasp in gold on a scale 1/6. All of the components are non-magnetic and continue to work well. The full back reverse shows the appropriate rivet, soldered on barrel hinge, soldered on round wire tombak catch and pin. The obverse features a centrally placed eagle head surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath with a static swastika to the base, which is all flanked by nine oak leaves. It is constructed out of a die struck two-piece nickel-silver base that has been silver washed and chemically blackened and finished in a protective lacquer coating. Instituted January 30th 1941, the Clasp for Reconnaissance, Air/Sea Rescue and Meteorological Squadrons in Silver was awarded for specialized squadrons upon the completion of sixty combat missions.
